Dr Smitha Pillay is from Bangalore, India, and obtained her medical degree from Mysore Medical College. She then moved to South Africa and worked as a medical officer for the Kwazulu Natal Provincial Health Services for 15 years.
She relocated with her family to WA in 2006 and was a District Medical Officer at Carnarvon Hospital for 4 years thereafter moving to Perth to work in General Practice. Whilst in hospital practice, she was a GP Obstetrician for 14 years. She has several years experience in ED, General Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, HIV medicine and Emergency Medicine.
As a family GP, she provides comprehensive primary health care services. She also provides shared antenatal care and contraceptive management. When not at work, she enjoys reading, cooking, watching movies and travelling.
